On this episode:
- Mike has an EXCLUSIVE interview with Dr. Louis Rodriquez — "The Professor With A Punch." In the '70s & '80s Louis played a central role in the career of Larry Holmes as one of his main sparring partners. Today, Louis is a professor at Kutztown University — not far from his hometown in Pennsylvania. Going back a few decades, as a fast light heavyweight, Louis was utilized to help develop Larry's speed and timing. Louis also used to spar with Muhammad Ali. Below is a photo from one of Louis' fights.
A little known fact — that for obvious reasons was not released at the time — is Larry Holmes was dealing with a serious injury during the historic fight against Ken Norton for the title. Just days before, Larry injured his left bicep on Louis' elbow while the two were sparring. As we all know, even though he was in pain, the injury didn't prevent Larry from winning that fight — a fight that would be ranked as one of the greatest heavyweight championship bouts of all time.
You think the gang from "The Hangover" had fun in Vegas? You haven't heard anything until you hear these real-life, behind-the-scenes stories of one of the greatest heavyweights and his team. The HBO series "Entourage" has nothing over these guys. You'll hear — as only an insider could tell you — about the victory parties, their meetings with Presidents, celebrities, other sports stars, and more. Below is a photo of Larry Holmes (with Louis Rodriquez to his left) minutes after winning the Heavyweight Championship of the World as they all jumped in the pool at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
